I often liken effective communication and public speaking to a 3-legged stool.

You need all 3 legs on a 3-legged stool, or it will fall over.

In my view, the 3 legs of effective communication are:

  1. WHAT – What is your message?
  2. HOW – How are you presenting it?
  3. ALLOW – Are you getting past your fears and allowing yourself to share it?

In this video, I make the case that the WHAT, your message, is the most important part of the mix, a first among equals, as it were.

Of course, if you don’t deliver it, then the value of the message is totally lost; so maybe the ALLOW is the most important element.

I invite you to watch the video. I’d love to hear your opinion on which element you think is the most important:

  • The message,
  • How it’s delivered, or
  • Getting over the fear of delivering it.
